Average asking price: €46,227 (from €150 to €110,000)

On this page you'll find beauty salons for sale: centers with cabins for face and body treatments, laser hair removal clinics, nail and beauty bars, often complete with equipment, a customer base and qualified staff. Buying an established center saves you the heaviest initial investment in the sector: technology and cabin build-out, which bought new can cost more than a business that is already working.

On prices, a realistic range is €30,000 to €120,000 depending on location, clientele and equipment; the machines are often the decisive item, so check whether they are owned or leased. To run a center you need a technical director qualified as a beautician (Italian law 1/1990): you can appoint a qualified employee without holding the qualification yourself. Also check that the premises meet the health and hygiene requirements verified by the local health authority (ASL).

One check many people forget: the prepaid packages sold to customers and not yet delivered are a liability you inherit, and should be deducted from the price. Filter listings by region and budget and contact sellers; for the valuation method read selling a beauty salon or use business valuation. If you're selling, publish your listing from €37 + VAT, no commission. See also hair salons.

Frequently asked questions

As a guide, €30,000-€70,000 for a small center with a consolidated clientele, €70,000-€150,000 for well-established businesses with recent technology (laser, radiofrequency), more for franchise centers or prime locations in large cities. The real value of the equipment alone can account for half the asking price.

Not necessarily: Italian law 1/1990 requires the business to have a technical director qualified as a beautician. You can be the entrepreneur and appoint a qualified employee as technical director, often someone already working in the center you're buying. When you take over you need the SCIA filed with the municipality and compliance with the health and hygiene requirements checked by the local health authority (ASL).

At the second-hand market value, not at list price: a hair-removal laser loses value quickly and superseded models are worth a fraction of the new price. Check whether each machine is owned, leased or rented (any remaining installments pass to you), the CE certifications and the maintenance log. Recent, owned equipment justifies a higher price.

Four things above all: the prepaid packages still to be delivered (treatments already paid for to the seller that you will have to provide: a liability to deduct from the price), the lease, how long-standing the clientele is and the position of the employees, who transfer with the business under art. 2112 c.c. The full checklist is in the guide to due diligence.

With a business transfer deed before a notary (art. 2556 c.c.), with 3% registration tax on the value. Then the administrative side: the SCIA for the takeover, appointing the technical director, transferring utilities and contracts. The steps are described in the guide on licenses, transfers and takeovers. Have an accountant follow the tax side for you.
