Here you'll find craft and professional businesses for sale across Italy: garages and body shops, carpentry shops, production workshops, plant and construction firms, print shops, laundries, business services. These are businesses where the industrial unit or workshop, the machinery and above all a portfolio of recurring customers are what count: taking one over means buying relationships, orders and consolidated skills, not just equipment.

In the Italian market these companies are usually valued at 2-4 times EBITDA plus the value of machinery and inventory; micro-businesses often change hands at a price close to the value of the assets, with limited goodwill. Points to check before making an offer: how much the business depends on the owner personally, which certifications are needed to operate (SOA for construction, DM 37/2008 qualifications for plant work) and the real condition of the machinery. The guides selling a craft business and selling a construction company are worth reading from the buyer's side too.

Filter listings by region, sector and price range and contact sellers to visit the workshop and see the numbers: always ask for a handover period with the departing owner. For a first estimate of value use business valuation; if it's your own company looking for a buyer, publish your listing from €37 + VAT, one-off payment, no commission on the sale.

Frequently asked questions

For businesses with stable profits the practice is 2-4 times EBITDA, plus inventory and, if owned, the property (usually treated separately, either sold or leased to the buyer). Micro-businesses whose profit can't be clearly separated from the owner's own work are valued closer to the value of machinery and equipment. You'll find the method in the guide how much is my company worth and an estimate with business valuation.

They transfer with the business: art. 2112 c.c. provides for the automatic continuation of employment relationships, keeping seniority and terms. In craft businesses this is usually a strength: skilled workers (the experienced welder, the workshop foreman) are a substantial part of the value you're buying, and their staying on should be discussed explicitly during negotiations.

It depends on the type. The construction SOA attestation can be transferred with the sale of the business or of a branch, but it requires a verification procedure with the certifying body. Plant qualifications (DM 37/2008) are tied to the technical manager: if they leave with the previous owner, you have to appoint someone who meets the requirements. Check these points before the offer, not after.

With three tools to put in the contract: a handover period, paid or included in the price (6-12 months is standard, to introduce you to customers and suppliers), part of the price linked to results (earn-out) and the seller's non-compete undertaking, which art. 2557 c.c. already provides for 5 years. If the top three customers account for most of the revenue, negotiate on price.

With a business transfer (art. 2556 c.c.) you are liable for debts only if they appear in the accounting books (art. 2560 c.c.) and you choose what to take on; buying the shares of the S.r.l. means taking on the company with its entire past, including what doesn't show in the books. For a structured craft business the choice has to be weighed case by case with an accountant: the full comparison is in the guide share sale or business branch transfer.
