Calculate your business’s EBITDA
Work out your business’s operating margin by entering your annual revenue and costs.
Enter the figures for the calculation
EBITDA is not the same as net profit or the cash available. Check with your accountant that you have included the right items.
How it works
We work out EBITDA by subtracting the operating costs you entered from revenue. To get the percentage margin, we divide EBITDA by revenue and multiply by 100. Use accounting figures for the same year: bank account movements alone are not enough.
A real example
With €240,000 of revenue and €192,000 of operating costs, EBITDA is €48,000 and the margin is 20%.
Frequently asked questions
Are EBITDA and net profit the same thing?
No. Net profit also takes into account depreciation, financial income and costs, and taxes. Here you only work out the operating margin before those items.
Can EBITDA be negative?
Yes: if operating costs are higher than revenue, the tool shows a negative result. That does not automatically mean the business has no value.
